Pointing Your Domain to Wonderweb Hosting

To make your website work with your Wonderweb hosting, you must point your domain to our nameservers. This article shows you how, whether you registered the domain with us or elsewhere.

If You Registered Your Domain with Wonderweb

We automatically configure the nameservers for domains registered through us. However, if you have changed them in the past or if you want to double‑check:

  • Log in to your client area (clientarea.wonderweb.host).
  • Go to DomainsMy Domains.
  • Click on your domain, then look for Nameservers.
  • Set them to our default nameservers:
    • ns1.wonderweb.host
    • ns2.wonderweb.host
    • ns3.wonderweb.host
    • ns4.wonderweb.host
  • Click Save.

If Your Domain Is Registered Elsewhere (e.g., GoDaddy, Namecheap, Zim Hosting)

  • Log in to your registrar’s website.
  • Find the DNS or Nameserver settings for your domain.
  • Replace the existing nameservers with ours:
    • ns1.wonderweb.host
    • ns2.wonderweb.host
    • ns3.wonderweb.host
    • ns4.wonderweb.host
  • Save the changes.

What If You Only Want to Point a Subdomain or Specific Records?

Instead of changing your nameservers, you can connect your domain to hosting by editing individual DNS records at your domain registrar. This method is useful if you only want to point part of your domain (such as a subdomain or email service) without affecting the rest of your DNS setup.

For example, to point your main website (yourdomain.com) to your hosting account, locate the A record for the root domain (@) or “yourdomain.com” and update it to the IP address of your hosting server.

To point a subdomain (e.g. blog.yourdomain.com or shop.yourdomain.com), create or edit a CNAME or A record for that subdomain and point it to the required destination provided by your hosting setup.

Common DNS record types:
- A Record: Points a domain or subdomain directly to an IP address.
- CNAME Record: Points a subdomain to another domain name (e.g. your hosting system or service URL).
- MX Record: Controls email routing (used for email hosting).
- TXT Record: Used for verification and security settings (e.g. SPF, DKIM, Google verification).

Important:
Ensure that only the specific record you want to change is edited. Do not modify unrelated DNS entries, as this may affect email, website, or other services.

If you are unsure of the correct IP address or target value for your hosting setup, you can still contact us via WhatsApp for confirmation before making changes.

DNS Propagation Time

After changing nameservers or DNS records, you may need to wait 24‑48 hours for the changes to take effect worldwide. During this time, some visitors may see the old website, and some may see the new one. This is normal.

You can check propagation status using online tools like dnschecker.org.

My Domain Is Not Resolving

  • Make sure you entered the nameservers exactly as above (no typos).
  • Check that you saved the changes – some registrars have an “Apply” or “Confirm” button.
  • Wait at least 24 hours before concluding there is a problem.
  • If after 48 hours the domain still does not work, contact our support. Provide your domain name and a screenshot of your registrar’s nameserver settings.
