Setting Up Private Nameservers (Branded DNS)

Private nameservers allow you to use your own domain for DNS (e.g., ns1.yourbrand.com). This makes your hosting business look more professional. Follow these steps to set them up with Wonderweb.

What You Need

  • A registered domain you own (e.g., yourbrand.com).
  • Access to your domain’s DNS management (via your registrar or our client area).
  • WHM access.
  • Our four nameserver IP addresses:
    • 109.104.153.248
    • 5.199.139.187
    • 45.154.205.212
    • 185.126.237.4

Step 1: Register Glue Records at Your Domain Registrar

Log in to your domain registrar account (where you bought yourbrand.com). Look for Private Nameservers, Host Records, or Child Nameservers.

Create the following records:

  • ns1.yourbrand.com → 109.104.153.248
  • ns2.yourbrand.com → 5.199.139.187
  • ns3.yourbrand.com → 45.154.205.212
  • ns4.yourbrand.com → 185.126.237.4

This step is essential – without glue records, your private nameservers will not resolve.

Step 2: Assign the Nameservers to Your Own Domain

At the same registrar, change your domain’s nameservers to the private ones you just created:

  • Set nameserver 1: ns1.yourbrand.com
  • Set nameserver 2: ns2.yourbrand.com
  • Set nameserver 3: ns3.yourbrand.com
  • Set nameserver 4: ns4.yourbrand.com

Step 3: Configure WHM to Use Your Private Nameservers

  • Log in to WHM.
  • Go to Server ConfigurationBasic WebHost Manager Setup.
  • In the Nameservers section, enter:
    • ns1.yourbrand.com
    • ns2.yourbrand.com
    • ns3.yourbrand.com
    • ns4.yourbrand.com
  • Scroll down and click Save Changes.

Step 4: Add A Records for Your Nameservers in WHM’s DNS Zone

  • In WHM, go to DNS FunctionsDNS Zone Manager.
  • Click Edit next to yourbrand.com zone.
  • Add four A records:
    • ns1 → 109.104.153.248
    • ns2 → 5.199.139.187
    • ns3 → 45.154.205.212
    • ns4 → 185.126.237.4
  • Click Save.

Step 5: Wait for Propagation

DNS changes can take 24‑48 hours to fully propagate worldwide. During this time, your private nameservers will gradually start working.

Testing Your Private Nameservers

Use an online DNS lookup tool (like dnschecker.org) to see if ns1.yourbrand.com resolves to the correct IP. Once it does, you can start telling your clients to use ns1.yourbrand.com, etc., when they point their domains to you.
